We are excited to welcome FlexEtc to Phoenix.

FlexEtc is workspace built for growing businesses. Private space that scales with you, flexible terms, and rooms that were actually designed: good light, solid materials, layouts that make sense for the work happening in them.

The daily operational load, maintenance, logistics, the stuff that eats a founder's week, is part of what FlexEtc handles. You run the business. FlexEtc takes care of the ‘etc.

FlexEtc has locations open in Los Angeles, Denver, Salt Lake City, Plano, and Nashville. Phoenix opens this fall, and tours are available now for businesses that want to see the space before it fills in.

Three years in, we’re not just building community anymore. We’re seeing what happens when the right people, opportunities, and resources keep showing up for each other.

More than 3,500 people have participated in a Freeway Tech Talent Summit, creating an estimated 10,000+ new connections among founders, operators, investors, employers, talent, partners, and civic leaders.

Those connections are turning into interviews, hires, partnerships, investments, introductions, and new opportunities across Arizona’s innovation ecosystem.

Our broader community has grown to more than 5,500 newsletter subscribers and 70+ ecosystem partners, while our community NPS has increased from 32 to 68.

Talent is finding its way into the right rooms. Capital is reaching companies ready to grow. Founders, operators, investors, partners, and cities are building alongside one another.

That’s what a healthy ecosystem looks like.

This year's Summit theme The Performance Economy started as three words on a slide. It's turned into one of the more interesting conversations I've had all year, because I've been asking everyone I meet the same question: what does performance mean to you?

The answers haven't converged, and honestly, that's what tells me we're onto something real.

I sat down with the team at Cognite last week, and for them, performance is customer value — full stop. Their moonshot mission is to deliver $100B in customer value by 2035, measured in productivity gains, reduced costs, uptime, and operational excellence.

A Freeway member in London gave me a completely different answer. The Performance Economy is being covered everywhere as a tooling story: which model, which stack, which workflow. But the real story, he argued, is a translation problem. The teams winning with AI aren't the ones with the best tools. They're the ones who can explain what they're building to the people who actually have to trust it–customers, candidates, regulators, the public. Every founder in the room with us on November 6th is about to hit that wall, and most of them don't know it yet.

Customer value. Trust and translation. Two very different lenses on the exact same word.

So I'll ask you what I've been asking everyone else: what does performance mean to you? And what do you want to hear about it on November 6th?

Reply to this email — I'm collecting answers, and some of them might make the stage. Be sure to join the waitlist for the latest updates and ticket drop.

Cohort 2 gave us one of the clearest examples yet of what happens when talented people stop being names in an applicant tracking system and start becoming people in a room.

Within the cohort:

  • One participant received a job offer within 48 hours

  • Three interviews came directly through the Freeway network

  • Participant resumes reached real recruiters and hiring decision-makers

  • Candidates built relationships with founders, investors, operators, and ecosystem leaders

The talent didn’t suddenly change. Their proximity to opportunity did.

That is the difference between sending another application into a crowded system and becoming a trusted person inside the right network.

Cohort #2

“I was a participant in Freeway Bootcamp 2.0, and I struggle to put into words how much it changed things for me. It taught me how startups actually work, what the entrepreneurial life really demands, and how to communicate and position myself to become an asset no company would want to lose.
The best part was the people. Every guest speaker brought their own web of connections, and each one felt like a door to a new opportunity.
If you're trying to build your network and find your footing in the corporate world, this Bootcamp is worth your time.”

Fasisal Khorasi, Masters in Computer Science at ASU.

Cohort #3 coming August 17–26, 2026 at Kiln Biltmore.

If you’re ready to stop applying into the void and start building the relationships that move opportunities forward, Startup-Ready Bootcamp was built for you.

Across six sessions in two weeks, participants will:

  • Build a personalized Job Seeker Business Plan

  • Earn the Startup-Ready Certified designation

  • Connect directly with hiring managers, investors, founders, and startup leaders

  • Learn how early-stage and growth-stage companies evaluate talent

  • Develop a more targeted strategy for entering Phoenix’s startup ecosystem

Because the goal isn’t to send out more resumes. It’s to get the right people into the right rooms. If you’re an employer or recruiter want to be a guest speaker, let us know.

Capital is more than a number on a press release, it’s a signal of belief in a company, in its founders, and in what they’re building.

Arizona technology companies have raised $328 million across 26 funding rounds so far in 2026, already reaching 67% of all capital raised during 2025, despite completing only 37% as many rounds.

The average round has increased from approximately $6.9 million in 2025 to $12.6 million in 2026, an 84% increase.

If the current pace continues, Arizona technology companies could raise approximately $562 million by year-end, surpassing 2025’s total of $488 million even with fewer overall transactions.

The signal is clear: capital may be moving through fewer deals, but it is being deployed in larger amounts to companies positioned for meaningful growth.

Tech Talent Summit 6.0 is back.
📅 November 6, 2026, Save the date!

Every company says they're "adopting AI” but almost none of them are asking the harder question: what does the company itself need to become because of it? AI isn't changing if companies compete, it's changing how. And the same goes for talent. The teams that win won't just adopt AI faster, they'll rebuild how they hire, lead, and scale around it.

That shift is what we're calling The Performance Economy and it's the whole conversation at Tech Talent Summit 6.0.

We're keeping the room to 300 leaders — founders, operators, investors, employers —the people making these calls, not just talking about them. Last April's Summit filled up fast, this one will too.

Talent. Capital. Community. Because none of this happens without the right people in the right room. That includes you.

What’s happening in Phoenix

Friday, August 14 | 4:00–6:00 PM
Cognite HQ, Tempe, AZ

As the Valley shakes off summer, Freeway is bringing the community together for a relaxed evening with the founders, operators, investors, and creatives shaping Phoenix tech. Drinks, snacks, and good conversation. Join us!

AI has made it easier than ever to document a process. It hasn't made that documentation actually stick.

LGN Collaborations is tackling this gap in an upcoming webinar: "The Missing Step Before AI Documentation Works," happening Wednesday, August 19 (9–10am Pacific / 12–1pm Eastern).

The core idea: most teams don't need another AI tool to write their SOPs — they need alignment before anything gets written down. Ask five people how a client gets onboarded and you'll likely get five different answers. AI can document all five beautifully. It can't tell you which one is right.

The session walks through LGN's Three C's Framework:

  • Clarity — Agree on ownership, handoffs, and what success looks like before documenting anything.

  • Collaboration — The strongest SOPs are built with the people actually doing the work, not written solo.

  • Change Management — Documentation doesn't create adoption. People do. Without training and reinforcement, even the best SOP becomes shelfware.

If your team has AI-generated docs sitting untouched, this is worth an hour. Save your seat today →

Arizona Doesn’t Need Another Coastal Copy

Phoenix doesn’t need to recreate someone else’s ecosystem. It needs to build on its own strengths.

The talent is here.
The capital is here.
The opportunity is here.

What’s been missing is the connective layer.

Freeway is that layer.

A healthy ecosystem is built by people who keep showing up, making introductions, and choosing to build together.

Thank you for being one of them.
